Increasingly, solar energy is seen as an important source of energy for new housing developments, and affordable housing is leading the way. Installing solar photovoltaics and solar hot water pre-heat systems, however, can present particular challenges, and opportunities for affordable housing developers. This seminar will review some basic technical aspects of solar installations and point out key considerations to take into account when contemplating including solar. We'll also review funding strategies for solar, and profile a recent affordable housing developments that has successfully integrated solar installations and is benefiting from the power they generate.
